M – Mojo – Nicky Coffin

In this video Nicky Coffin from Centered Excellence shares her insights on how Recruiters can regain their MOJO to achieve success in 2019.  

Nicky said, “In the A to Z of recruitment, I got the letter M. M is for mojo. If you like, your essence, your motivation, your purpose, basically what drives you.

It’s really crucial if you want to take your business to the next level or you want to smash through to somewhere where you haven’t been before you have your mojo because that is the thing that’s going to push you through when and if you hit obstacles. Which You always will do. If times get tough, it’s knowing that that’s the reason why I’m doing this, will help you to work through any challenges that you hit.

So I just wanted to give you a really quick process if your Mojo is waning, your mojo’s maybe not as you’d like it or you’ve lost it completely, or you actually want to get even more clarity on what it is that drives you, that motivates you.

It’s this question I call the magic wand question and it goes like this.

Step 1: Imagine you’ve got a magic wand on your business, on your life and in all things included in your life. Your relationships, what’s happening at home, hobbies, things that make your heart sing. Imagine you’ve got a magic wand and you go to sleep and overnight a miracle happens. And in the morning you wake up and everything has changed exactly as you want it.

Ask yourself this question: What’s changed?

As you walk into this new reality, what do you see? what do you hear? what do you feel that absolutely is exactly what you want?

Write down the answers to these questions, it will be exactly what you want your life to be like.

So once you’ve done that and that might take 5 minutes, it could take 10 minutes, you might want to take further time out.

Step 2:Sit down and think about everything in your life that’s not serving you. The stuff that’s frustrating you, that you want to stop doing, that you’re not going to put up with anymore, the things that are actually eating at your mojo.

Make a list of everything that’s affecting your mojo. And once you’ve done that brain dump, I want you to ask yourself a question, “what would I like to happen instead?” 

Go right to the top of your list and ask what do I want to happen instead, and write that down and go through that entire list until you’ve got through the list. Then go to step 3.

Step 3: Go to the top of the list and say, “right, so this is what I want to happen instead, what’s my first step?” Or “what are some of my first steps I could take to move from where I am to where I want to be?”

When you’ve got that, that will then give you a really clear plan of what you need to change so that your mojo is back. Anyway, I hope that helps and here’s to an amazing 2019.”

We typically have an exercise after each contributor to the A-Z.  however, Nicky has done one for you already.   I did this exercise myself and it was superb at improving my Mojo.  So try it yourself and with your team.   It could give you and your team the start you want in 2019.
