The Recruitment Agency Expo 2021

Hurrah! We finally got to get back on the road and visit the NEC in Birmingham for The Recruitment Agency Expo!

Walking into the venue, you could hardly tell everybody in the building had just spent the last 18 months in lockdown – it was an instant buzz of energy and there was loud chatter coming from all angles!

The expo was held over the 6 – 7 October and both days were packed from start to finish with watching speakers talk about their specialist subjects, being introduced to many people I’d spoken to online but never met face to face and a lot of networking with new faces.

There were some fantastic seminars from

  • Paul Chamberlain of JMW Solicitors on Employment Law updates
  • Christina Robinson of Green Umbrella Marketing on Social Media Trends
  • Audrey Lartey from LinkedIn on The Changing Landscape of the Future of Work
  • Ann Swain of APSCo on Planning and Strategies
  •  And of course, our very own Managing Director, Angela Cripps and her presentation on Onboarding New Starters!

We ended the first day with a few glasses of wine at the after party and got to catch up with a lot of people who’d attended the event earlier on in the day, it was a great reminder of how important (and fun) days out like this should be to stay connected and build relationships with those in our industries – and like I always say, there’s definitely room for everyone!

Since we’ve returned from the event and caught up with all the loose ends, I thought it was worth looking at how other people that attended The Recruitment Expo found their first big venture out since lockdown was lifted. 

I connected with everyone I met on LinkedIn, exchanged thank-yous and asked the question…


 “How did you find it?”

Not a single person came back with a negative response. Across the board it was a  massive thumbs ups and a shared agreement of how lovely it was to be face-to-face with old friends, clients made through lockdown and on-the-spot conversations, that’s a massive success if you ask me!

I feel for many of us that this event was a massive leap back to a state of life that I’d class as ‘returning to normal’ – bring it on!

I’d also like to go a huge thank you to everybody who was involved in the organisation of the Expo set up, everybody working on their stands, all of the speakers and everybody who came to say hello to Angela and myself. We had a fantastic time and can’t wait to see you at the next one!
